Free Final Grade Calculator
Welcome to the Final Grade Calculator by CalcHub Pro. It is the end of the semester, finals week is approaching, and you need to know exactly what is on the line. Use our free tool to figure out the exact score you need on your final exam to keep your A, or just barely pass the class.
How the Final Grade Math Works
Calculating your required score involves a specific algebraic formula because your final exam is "weighted" differently than standard homework assignments. Here is the formula our tool uses behind the scenes:
Required Score = (Desired Grade - (Current Grade × Current Weight)) ÷ Final Weight
For example: If you have an 80% in the class, you want a 90%, and the final is worth 20%, the math shows that you need to score a massive 130% on the final to get an A in the class. (Time to ask your professor for extra credit!)
What if I need over 100%?
If our calculator turns red and tells you that you need over 100%, it means your desired grade is mathematically out of reach based on the current weight of the exam. You will either need to lower your expectations (e.g., aim for a 'B' instead of an 'A'), or secure extra credit from your teacher before the exam.
What if the score is negative?
If you have a very high grade in the class and you set your "Desired Grade" very low (like a 60% just to pass), the calculator might output a negative number. This means you have already secured enough points to pass the class even if you score a 0% on the final exam!
