Free Calorie Deficit Calculator & Diet Planner
Welcome to the most accurate Calorie Deficit Calculator by CalcHub Pro. To lose weight effectively, you must understand your body's energy balance. Our free health tool uses the highly-regarded Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
How Does a Calorie Deficit Work?
Weight loss is fundamentally driven by a simple equation: you must burn more calories than you consume. If you eat fewer calories than your body requires (your maintenance calories or TDEE), your body is forced to tap into its stored body fat to make up the missing energy.
- 1 Pound of Fat = 3,500 Calories.
- To lose 1 lb per week, you need a daily deficit of 500 calories (500 x 7 = 3,500).
- To lose 2 lbs per week, you need a daily deficit of 1,000 calories. (Note: It is generally advised not to drop below 1,200 calories a day for women, or 1,500 for men without medical supervision).
Understanding Your Activity Level
Be honest when selecting your activity multiplier! If you work at a desk all day but go to the gym for 45 minutes, you are usually considered "Lightly Active." Overestimating your activity level is the #1 reason people fail to lose weight, as it will give you a calorie target that is too high.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
